Words With Buddies
Words With Buddies is designed based on inspiration from the classic Scrabble word board game. Players will engage in a true tactical battle. Every move must be carefully calculated. From the score of each letter to the placement position of the pieces on the board. Specifically, players will use random letter tiles provided on the tile rack. From there, you can form meaningful English words on the board. The goal is to accumulate a higher score than all remaining opponents when the match ends.
Each letter in the game carries a distinct point value. It reflects the popularity or difficulty of that letter in English. For example, easy-to-use letters like A, E, I usually have low scores. Meanwhile, rarer and harder-to-combine letters like Q, Z, X, or J possess extremely high scores. The game will end when the shared tile bag is exhausted. One of the players uses up all the tiles on their rack. Or when no one else can create any more valid new words on the board. At that point, the player who possesses the highest total accumulated score after the turns wins. Optimize your score and block the opponent's scoring opportunities on the board.
GAMEPLAY PREVIEW
When the game begins, the first player must place their word on the board. You need to have at least one letter overlapping the star space in the very center of the board. After that, all newly created words must connect directly to at least one pre-existing letter on the board. This mechanism forms a tightly linked word network. The letters in a single turn are only allowed to be arranged in a single straight line. It can be a horizontal row from left to right or a vertical column from top to bottom.
The appearance of white tiles
These tiles carry no points. But it can represent any letter in the English alphabet from A to Z. When you drag a white tile onto the board, a notification will immediately appear. Players can click to select the letter that this white tile will replace.
Enhancing personalized experience
Right at the start of the game, you will have the right to decide the number of players participating in the match. The game flexibly supports:
- A dramatic 1v1 duel.
- A surprising three-way showdown.
- An extremely lively free-for-all match table with four players at the same time.
You can choose to match randomly with other players globally. Or players can create a private game room to invite friends.
Special score multiplier space system
- Blue space: Doubles the score of the letter.
- Green space: Triples the score of the letter.
- Red space: Doubles the total score of the entire word created.
- Yellow space: Triples the total score of the entire word created.
Support features
- Tile exchange: exchange for new tiles from the shared tile bag.
- Pass: yield the turn to the opponent.

How to join Words With Buddies
- Click and hold the mouse on one of the letters below the grid.
- Pull the letter tile onto the board and release your hand.
Tips to play
- Focus on finding ways to place high-scoring letters into the correct letter double or triple multiplier spaces.
- Place new words right next to and parallel to a pre-existing word on the board.
- Find ways to fill up or block the opponent's path.
- Keep a balance between the number of vowels and consonants on the tile rack.
