In the word-guessing game Gootsle, competitors must correctly guess a five-letter word in a limited amount of time. Your objective is to correctly guess a five-letter word in six tries. Entering data is done by using the enter key. The color of the text in the cell after each guess reflects whether the words are correct.

The matching tile will change to a certain color if a letter in your prediction is in the right place (for example, the "W" in "GOOTS" is in the right place). The matching cell will change color if a letter is present in the word but is in the incorrect location. There will be no color change on the appropriate tile if a letter is not included in the word at all (for example, the letter "U" is not present in the word "GOOTS" in any location). In a set of six tries, the objective is to use feedback from color changes to help you focus on the right word.

How to play

By using the mouse to move around and reply to cues on the screen, players participate in the challenge. The color of the cells will change as you guess to show you how close you are to the right response.
