ZK Wordle

ZK Wordle

The word guessing game Wordle has an experimental variation called ZK Wordle that uses zero-knowledge (ZK) proofs. The objective of the game was to demonstrate the use of ZK proofs in a game and puzzle setting. The goal of this game is to guess a five-letter word that the computer has selected at random. You must correctly guess the buried word six times in order to win. The game gives feedback after each guess by indicating which letter in the guess is right and in the proper spot. As you get closer or farther from the right answer, the tiles will change colors. Create a ZK Proof of your solution, then demonstrate it to your friends. Don't reveal your prediction; just display the grid's color.

By providing any further information about the chosen word beyond the feedback given after each guess, ZK Wordle employs ZK proof to ensure that it is not being unfair. As a result, the player may be confident that the game does more than merely give feedback based on the word they have chosen and that the input and internal state of the program alone determine how the game behaves.

How to play

You have to correctly guess a game-generated five-letter word. Each time a guess is made, the game shows which letter is correct and in the right location, which letter is correct but out of place, and which letter is incorrect, giving players feedback. To guess the right word, the player has six chances.
