PLAYER EXPERIENCE SUMMARY

A match is broken into five separate rounds. In each round, both players receive a tray with ten random letters. Your job is to build a valid English word using these letters in just thirty short seconds. Players need to simply left-click a letter tile at the bottom of the screen. Then, you will drag it into an empty slot at the top and put together a real word. Once you form a valid word, the game recognizes it and shows a submit button. The player who makes the longest, most complex, and highest-scoring word wins that round.

Random opponents

In just a few seconds, the game pairs you up with a random player of your skill level. This makes every match a fun, cross-cultural face-off.

Scoring based on letter values

Much like classic Scrabble, this game tweaks the rules to fit quick, fast-paced rounds. Every letter has its own base point value. Rare, tricky letters like Z, Q, X, or J award big points. Common vowels like A, E, I, and O give fewer points. On top of that, the board features bonus tiles like double letter, triple letter, or even double and triple word scores. Placing high-value letters on these special tiles takes sharp strategic thinking.

How to play Word Duel

  • Click and hold a letter at the bottom, drag it to an empty slot, and let go.
  • Rearrange the letters until they spell a valid word, then submit your answer.

Spotting prefixes and suffixes

Spend your first five to ten seconds scanning all ten letters on your tray. Look out for common English prefixes and suffixes like UN-, RE-, -ED, -ING, -ER, -LY, or -EST. Spotting these patterns early makes it easy to stretch your words out for top points.

Growing your vocabulary each match

At the end of a match, the game shows the words your rival played. This is a great chance to learn clever word combinations you might not have thought of on your own.
