Queens

Queens places one queen in every row, column, and colored region of a logic grid. The board follows one central rule: queens cannot touch each other, including at diagonal corners. Each puzzle has a single solution, so every placement must fit the full set of row, column, and region requirements.

COLORED REGIONS AND QUEEN RULES

A correct board contains exactly one queen in each colored area as well as one queen across every horizontal and vertical line. A queen also blocks nearby diagonal cells, making placement order important. Marking cells that cannot contain a queen helps narrow the remaining options and makes the relationships between regions easier to follow.

Place Marks Before Queens

In Queens, tap a cell once to add a cross marker and tap it twice to place a queen. Tap a cell three times to clear it. You can also drag across empty cells to add crosses to a run of spaces, then drag from a crossed cell to erase those markers. Queens automatically identify attacked cells in the same row and column after a queen is placed.

Daily Boards and Difficulty

Daily Mini includes three compact puzzles that increase in difficulty. The boards use small grids, including 5x5 and 6x6 layouts, while larger daily puzzles grow through the week. The current difficulty appears near the top of the puzzle, and each completed board can be checked against an average solve time.

Logic Across Every Cell

Start by examining colored regions with limited open cells, then compare the remaining choices in each row and column. A queen placement can eliminate several cells at once, so use markers to keep track of those changes. Solve the grid one logical placement at a time in Queens.
